Gabriel, born in Puebla, Mexico, studied history at Mexico National University (UNAM) before deciding to change his degree to study Cinema. In 2007, he graduated with honors as a film director from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City, winning acclaim for his documentary ‘Bardo’. He then was selected for an exchange program between the CCC and the Hochshule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) in Munich, Germany. In 2007 Gabriel was invited to participate at a documentary workshop with filmmaker James Benning, and again in 2008 with Patricio Guzman. Gabriel is a scholarship recipient from FICCO, TyPA foundation and IBERMEDIA. A Secret World, his first feature, was supported by the swiss fund Visions Sud Est for production grant and premiered in Berlinale´s Generation. Yesterday Wonder I Was, his second film, won several awards at the most important latin american film festivals, such as Morelia Film Fest. Gabriel was featured by Variety as one of the nine most interesting latin filmmakers and a must to follow.
He currently works as a director for advertisement and non advertising projects for brands and organizations such as Fifa, Coca Cola, Corona & Sol, documentary and fiction series for important cultural tv networks and global networks like Netflix.
